June 24, 2009— Today, Oxford Computer Group announced it has been selected as a 2009 Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference Awards finalist in Security Solutions, Identity and Secure Access.
"Identity and Security with Microsoft Technology is our primary focus and to receive this kind of accolade and validation from Microsoft for the third year in succession is fantastic", said Neil Coughlan, Director, Oxford Computer Group. "We appreciate the excellent skills and capability of our people and the continued endorsement of our customers."
Awards will be presented in a number of categories, with winners chosen from a pool of nearly 2,000 entrants worldwide. The Security Solutions, Identity and Secure Access Partner of the Year Award honors partners that have practices with proven proficiency in implementing solutions based on the Microsoft Identity and Access technologies (Microsoft Windows Active Directory Domain Services, Microsoft Identity Lifecycle Manager, Active Directory Rights Management Services, Active Directory Federation Services and Active Directory Certificate Services). This award also recognizes partners with innovative solutions that help enterprises optimize their identities and access to resources in a heterogeneous environment or solutions that provide value-added security and compliance capabilities.
"Partners are the key to igniting business innovation through great technology as well as helping customers drive down costs," said Allison L. Watson, Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Partner Group, Microsoft Corp. "Congratulations to the 2009 WPC Award finalists who have demonstrated a superior level of expertise as well as a focus on delivering customer value. We look forward to seeing these partners fulfill their limitless potential as they continue to provide customers with world-class Microsoft solutions."
The Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference Awards recognize Microsoft partners that have developed and delivered exceptional Microsoft-based solutions over the past year.
The solution by Oxford Computer Group ticks practically every box. At its core is Identity Lifecycle Management - the automation of the lifecycle of all identities (persons, but also roles and groups), including provisioning, reprovisioning and deprovisioning. The automated mapping of group memberships to roles ensures complete integration of enterprise and application directories, including any necessary deployment of these. This includes the automatic handling of access rights across systems based on role and policy - with continuous synchronization.
The second major element relates to the management of credentials. Synchronization of accounts leads to reduced or single sign-on, and the additional management of certificates, automatically provisioned to smart cards, provides Strong Authentication. Smart cards can also work as a proximity card to grant access at a building entrance for example.
